Tours of the League House

Founding Forward is pleased to provide tours of the League House to members, their guests and the general public. Tours are conducted by the League historian, other Legacy Foundation staff, or trained docents.

Tour Information

Tours are available for the entire League or of the Heritage Center. Tours of the Heritage Center provide a brief history of the Union League and cover the current exhibit on display in the Heuer Room. 

Living History

Tours of the League House provide a more in-depth history of the League, and its important role in the history of Philadelphia, the region, and country. Tours are a great way to learn more about this unique Philadelphia institution and see beautiful art and artifacts.

  • Tours can be tailored to specific interests – notably art, architecture, history or more. If you have a particular interest, please let us know.
  • Tours are typically 45 minutes to an hour
  • Tours are scheduled based on docent/staff availability and must be set-up in advance.
  • The Union League dress code is enforced for all tours outside of the Heritage Center.

If staff is requested, or there is such short notice that staff is the only option, an additional fee will apply – $50, up to 20 people, $100, 21-40 people.

History Presentations/Collections Displays

Enhance your event by including a presentation about League History, or a Treasures of the League display of the collections. The collection features important objects and documents dating from the Civil War. Highlights include a rare copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Lincoln, the shirt fragment worn by Lincoln on the night of his assassination, the Tanner Manuscript which describes Lincoln’s assassination, and other important, and engaging items. A presentation includes an intro and broad history of the Union League.
