Laura Nichols has been an educator with the Las Cruces Public School District in southern New Mexico for 23 years. She currently teaches 6th grade Ancient Civilizations and 8th grade Early American History. Laura earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in history and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from New Mexico State University.
Throughout her career, she has contributed to the district’s growth by developing curriculum and content standards, mentoring teachers, and leading professional development for Social Studies educators. As a Founding Forward Teacher Ambassador, she is eager to collaborate with fellow educators across the country.
Outside the classroom, Laura teaches strength and cardio classes at the gym and operates her own cake business. She is also a proud mother of two sons, one in high school and the other in college.
