John Marfy brings 27 years of teaching experience to Crestwood High School in Mantua, Ohio, where he was originally hired to teach Audio/Video Production—a subject he continues to teach alongside computer science and social studies. A Kent State University graduate with a degree in Journalism and Telecommunications, John transitioned to social studies instruction 20 years ago. He currently teaches APUSH, Honors World History, and American History in Film, and has previously taught Ohio History and AP Government.
Born in Puerto Rico, John spent his formative years in Madrid, Spain, and attended Sevenoaks School in England. His youth included extensive European travel and summers at a Hungarian youth camp during the Cold War—experiences that enrich his global perspective in the classroom. Outside of teaching, John enjoys travel and beekeeping. He lives with his wife Kim, and their two dogs, Georgie and Winston.
