Jim Carl teaches 8th-grade U.S. History at Cardiff Junior High, in Katy, Texas. Now in his third year of teaching, he works to make history relevant and accessible by connecting past events to students’ real-world experiences. U.S. History is his favorite subject to teach, particularly the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, which he sees as natural entry points for conversations about civic responsibility and historical thinking.
A lifelong learner, Jim is a graduate of Liberty University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in History and Political Science. He is also an ambassador for the Korean War Legacy Foundation, bringing lesser-known stories and primary sources into his classroom. Last summer, he participated in Founding Forward’s Middle States Summer Institute.
Jim is proud to serve as a Founding Forward Ambassador, sharing the value of immersive, content-rich professional development and connecting educators with opportunities that deepen understanding of America’s founding principles and civic traditions.
