Erin Merrill is a veteran middle grades teacher from Northern Virginia. For the past 20 years she has taught social studies, language arts, reading enrichment, as well as other unique preps like Career Investigations. Passionate about project-based learning, Erin integrates student choice boards, creative application, and various forms of research, product, and presentation into her classes. During her teaching career, Erin has been honored for her teaching strategies by the VFW, National Education Association, Virginia Middle School Association, Nearpod, and the Washington Post. Outside of the classroom, Erin sponsors her school’s NJHS chapter as well as coaching a We the People competition team. In her spare time, she is a voracious reader and loves to do trivia and escape rooms. However, she would say her greatest accomplishment to date, was appearing on Jeopardy in 2021.
