Cory Vasek has been a teacher for 29 years, 28 of which have been at Mary Our Queen in Omaha. He teaches 7th grade World History and 8th grade American History, and he holds a bachelor’s in education from University of Nebraska-Omaha and a master’s in curriculum and instructional science from Peru State College.
Cory is the 2008 James Madison Fellow for Nebraska and has served on the Nebraska State Council of Social Studies since 2016. In 2017, Cory was awarded the Outstanding Educator award by Civics Nebraska for his initiative to emphasize civic education and was the 2023 Nebraska Chapter of the D.A.R. outstanding teacher of American History.
In his spare time, he coaches football and basketball, leads an 8th grade trip to Washington D.C., volunteers for economic development projects in his community, and enjoys gaming, cheering for his college and professional sports teams, reading and travelling.
