Colleen Napora is an 11th and 12th grade Special Education and ENL teacher in New York, where she teaches Resource Room and co teaches U.S. History. She is a National Board-Certified Teacher and serves as a Regional Coordinator for NBCNY. Colleen wanted to become a Founding Forward Teacher Ambassador because she is passionate about advocating for and sharing the exceptional resources Founding Forward offers educators. She was especially inspired by the Medal of Honor program.
Colleen wants students to understand that when we take a closer look at the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, we are not just memorizing historic documents. We are learning what freedom really means and how it connects to their lives today.
Outside the classroom, Colleen enjoys traveling, kayaking, hiking, and spending time anywhere near a lake or the ocean. She also loves spending time with her three dogs.
