Colette Morton is a veteran English teacher at Gateway STEM High School in St. Louis with over 25 years of classroom experience. A graduate of the University of Missouri–St. Louis, she holds degrees in both English and Secondary Education. Her teaching focuses on building inclusive, literature-rich environments that reflect the diverse backgrounds of her students, many of whom come from low-income households and underrepresented communities. Colette integrates real-world issues into her curriculum, including climate change and civil rights, and has collaborated with Washington University on interdisciplinary projects like the K–12 Climate Across Curriculum initiative. Known for her empathy and high standards, Colette works to ensure every student feels seen, challenged, and empowered. Colette challenges herself to read 150 books a year and seeks to meet as many authors as possible.
