Jennifer Ameigh is an ESL/Gifted teacher at Sayre Area Schools in Sayre, PA. Born and raised in New York, Jennifer has lived all over the Central and Western parts of the state, with short stints living in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. She now resides on the New York side of the NY/PA border and hops over to the PA side every school day to teach. With twenty-three years of classroom experience, Jennifer has taught every grade K-12, starting off as a high school English teacher, spending most of her career teaching intermediate ELA, Science, and Social Studies, before landing in her current role. A lover of learning, her eclectic mix of educational backgrounds includes studies in English, Elementary Education, Social Studies, Environmental Education, TESOL, and Gifted Education. She currently holds bachelor’s degrees from Houghton College and SUNY Fredonia as well as a master’s from the University at Buffalo and is working on a TESOL masters from Wilkes University. In keeping with her diverse educational background, Jennifer’s academic passions are the literature of Southern women writers, environmental science, and American history, specifically the history of World War I and II and the history of Central NY and the Finger Lakes. Twice recognized as a STEM teacher of the year, Jennifer enjoys bringing curiosity and discovery into her classroom no matter the content she is teaching. Storytelling also holds a huge presence in her teaching style. Outside of the classroom, her hobbies include reading, gardening, and traveling. She recently bought a 13-foot camper and hopes to use it to travel to all the national parks in the continental U.S. Jennifer also attends several teacher institutes each summer. This past summer she was lucky enough to attend the Young People’s Continental Congress in Philadelphia with one of her Gifted students, the Eastern State Penitentiary Institute of Justice, and the Founding Forward Viginia Presidents traveling program. Jennifer’s connections to Founding Forward are deep; she has been attending teacher institutes since 2001, worked as staff at the Valley Forge location, and brings students to their Spirit of America program. As a teacher ambassador, she looks forward to introducing other teachers to the quality resources and programs that Founding Forward offers.
