A fast-paced, immersive program for Good Citizenship Awardees, where students delve into ideas about freedom and free enterprise.
During a three-day program at our Philadelphia campus, located in The Union League of Philadelphia, college-aged students engage in seminars, discussions, and activities examining America’s founding principles and the topics of liberty, freedom, and free enterprise.
These topics take on a deeper meaning in the presence of history: the proximity of Independence Hall, the stirring displays in the Lincoln Memorial Room, the inspiring portraits of such great Americans as abolitionists Lucretia Mott and Frederick Douglass, and the incredible historic collections of the League.
Students also visit the American Philosophical Society, where they explore historical documents like Jefferson’s copy of the Declaration of Independence, Franklin’s copy of the Constitution with his hand-written notes in the margin, Charles Wilson Peale’s portrait of General George Washington drawn during the American Revolution, and a first edition of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense that was printed just down the street.
