Public Affairs: Finding Common Ground

In an era defined by political polarization, cultural division, and constant outrage, how do we lead with conviction without losing the ability to listen? How do we find common ground without compromising our principles? Drawing from the themes of his new book, A Venn Diagram of One, Lenny McAllister explores what it means to resist the pressure of ideological camps and embrace thoughtful, principled leadership. Through personal and professional experiences that tested his faith, resilience, and sense of purpose, McAllister reflects on the experiences that shaped his worldview and the lessons they offer for today’s civic challenges. Rather than asking audiences to choose sides, McAllister invites them to consider how reflection, empathy, and shared purpose can strengthen our communities and nation. His message reminds us that America’s greatest strength has often been found not only in our differences, but in our ability to discover what we hold in common. 

Lenny McAllister has been a part of Good Citizen Day since 2020, serving as emcee the past 2 years. He is a Founding Forward Senior Fellow.
