Public Affairs: Can a President Do That? Analyzing Executive Orders

Date & Time

|

6:00 PM

Description

The Constitution establishes a federal government limited by the Bill of Rights and the division of power between branches of government. Simultaneously, the president is empowered by legislation that creates executive departments under his direction. Where do the boundaries of presidential authority lie in this system? Join Founding Forward for a discussion of recent developments in executive authority, including how executive orders are implemented, how they are challenged, and what lies in store for the new administration’s current orders.

Michael McGinley is a Partner at Dechert LLP, previously served as Associate Counsel and Special Assistant to the President and earlier served as a law clerk to Justice Alito. James Schultz has served as general counsel for the Governor of Pennsylvania, and as Senior Associate Counsel and Special Assistant to the President.

This program will be hosted in-person at the League House. Registration is required.
