Library Hour: The American Revolution and the Fate of the World

Date & Time

|

6:00 PM

Description

The colonies’ triumphant liberation from England through the American Revolution marked a cataclysm that impacted millions around the globe and remade the world anew. The War of Independence fundamentally transformed the way societies functioned and led to the creation of new ideas about freedom. The ripple effect of this shift led to widespread famine, a global refugee crisis, the restructuring of penal systems, and new trade patterns. The Revolution’s impact was felt far beyond the shores of North America, stretching as far as India, Africa, Central America, and Australia. Join Founding Forward for this program as Dr. Richard Bell, Professor of History at the University of Maryland, discusses the impact of these developments across the newly independent country and abroad.

This program will be hosted in-person at the League House. Registration is required. Bell’s book, The American Revolution and the Fate of the World, will be sold at the reception.
