Public Affairs: Election 2024: Outcomes and Analysis

In a politically polarized country where partisans see the opposing candidate as an existential threat, the 2024 election could be one of the most consequential in history. The implications of the election are significant, both domestically and internationally. At home, immigration, taxation, crime, homelessness, inflation, and abortion dominate the headlines, while globally, the growing threat of China, the war in Ukraine, a widening conflict in the Middle East, trade imbalances, cybersecurity concerns, energy supply, and security issues are all vitally important. The shifting political landscape and a United States Congress in which both houses could flip have implications for taxes, the courts, and nearly every aspect of the federal government. The last two Presidential elections led to a breakdown of the rule of law and violence. What will the losing candidates and their supporter’s response be? Join us on Thursday, November 7, for a discussion on the political, policy, and social implications of election day 2024. Join panelists Jim Schultz, former senior associate White House counsel and CNN Legal Commentator, along with Kenneth Lawrence, Chair of the Board of SEPTA and former Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, for the discussion.
