Description

Come join us for an open house at Founding Forward’s Philadelphia campus, featuring items from our newly acquired collection of materials created by sculptor Jakob Otto Schweizer.

Every October, Philadelphia archival repositories come together to celebrate archives and promote awareness of the important work archives do collecting historic documents and records. Archives Month Philly participants host events and exhibitions to invite everyone to learn more about the rich histories recorded in the archives around the city.

This year, Founding Forward is proud to participate, hosting an event to highlight a newly acquired collection of materials created by sculptor Jakob Otto Schweizer, well known for his statues in Philadelphia, the Gettysburg Battlefield Park, and the Union League’s Lincoln Memorial Room. This collection includes documents, plaster sculpture maquettes, photographs, and other materials created by Schweizer – a selection of materials from this collection will be on display during the event. Come learn more about Schweizer and his work at this open house. Guests will enjoy a reception with drinks and light refreshments. A complementary tour of the League House will be available for those interested; the tour will begin at 5pm.
