Red, White, and YOU
As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Founding Forward and the Union League America250 Committee will deliver engaging, educational programming that celebrates America’s 250th anniversary, honors the Union League’s historic support of President Lincoln in preserving the Union and upholding the ideals of the Declaration of Independence, and reaffirms our commitment to the American dream — while honoring our past, celebrating our present, and inspiring the future.
Below is a highlight of upcoming events and programs that have a special focus on America’s 250th. Please join us!
- Founding Forward commissioned a bronze bust of Benjamin Franklin in anticipation of America’s 250th. It will be unveiled at a special event later this month and housed at the League. Keep an eye on our social media for the unveiling!
- On March 25, over 240 11th-grade students will gather at the League for Founding Forward’s Good Citizen Day – an all-day civics program where they will gain an in-depth understanding of the Constitution, the rights bestowed upon them within it, and their responsibility as future leaders to uphold it. Click here to support the future of America.
- Coming this spring – an exhibit on the Declaration of Independence in the Heritage Center of the League House.
- Join Founding Forward on May 27 for a special showing of Episode 5 of the documentary In Pursuit: Philadelphia and the Making of America with commentary by Executive Producer Sam Katz and Historical Consultant Jim Mundy, moderated by Founding Forward Senior Advisor John Meko.
- On June 24, Dr. Allen Guelzo will discuss Abraham Lincoln and his reverence for the Declaration of Independence as the foundation of American identity.
