Our 2024 Golf Classic raised nearly $300,000!
On August 5, the 20th Anniversary Golf Classic raised nearly $300,000 to support Founding Forward’s transformative and immersive civic education programs for students, teachers, and citizens.
We are especially grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, M&T Bank, and the many additional sponsors, participants, and volunteers, as well as to our host, Union League National Golf Club. Special thanks to Mr. Don Mahoney and Mr. Mark Merlini for their leadership on the Golf Committee.
Attention parents & students!
Students grades 10-12 are invited to join our Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program to experience four days of compelling education and activities at our Valley Forge campus, October 17-20. Activities such as a mock congressional debate, free enterprise challenge, workshops, and historical site visits will engage them in the first principles as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.
Students will leave with a better understanding of their responsibilities to society, a solid grounding in our country’s history, leadership skills they will use the rest of their lives, and enduring friendships.
This is the last Spirit of America Program session open to all students in 2024. Next year’s programs start in February.
We are in the final development of the new Founding Forward website with an ambitious goal to launch in the coming days. It has been a big undertaking! Once complete, the new website will bring all Founding Forward programs, events, resources, and the two campuses together under one new website. It will clearly position Founding Forward as a vibrant non-profit organization with immersive in-person civic education programs rooted in our country’s founding principles.
The new website will also pay tribute to the past and preserve the history of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and The Union League Legacy Foundation.
The current Founding Forward landing page will not be replaced, but rather enhanced with new features and information, so you’ll still find us in the same place: www.foundingforward.org. In the meantime, make sure you are following Founding Forward on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to stay up-to-date with all our happenings.
New hires strengthen the Founding Forward team
We are pleased to welcome Corey Stubanas, Program Coordinator and Peter Moylan, Director of Advancement to the Founding Forward staff. The strengths and experience they bring to the team will help support and expand our civic education programs.
Corey comes to Founding Forward from the World Affairs Council in Philadelphia, where he was Programs Coordinator. He also worked at the Narbeth Community Food Bank in Narbeth, PA; the Fairfield Foundation in Gloucester, VA; and the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. Corey graduated from the College of William & Mary with a BA in History, where his courses covered the American Revolution, Civil War, international diplomacy, religion and politics, and civil rights. His experience in programming, outreach, education, and exhibits will add to our Education Department.
Peter brings to our Advancement Department his several years of success in fundraising, donor relationships, and management, most recently as Senior Leadership Gifts officer with the Eternal Association of Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia. There, he played a major role in the most successful campaign in the organization’s history and some of its most successful fundraising years. Prior to that, he was Major Gifts Officer at Keystone College in LaPlume, PA. Peter holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Scranton.
Thank you to our summer interns!
Founding Forward’s historic collections benefitted from the hard work of our three summer college interns, Grace, Bethany, and Elizabeth. Their work included transcribing Civil War letters, updating and correcting the master list of all Union League members, researching the history of Union League properties, and processing boxes of archival documents.
Thank you, Grace, Bethany, and Elizabeth for your incredible work. Good luck going back to school, and we wish you the best in future endeavors.
